PORTLANDIA AND BEYONDIA

Last month my husband and I went on a journey to Portland, and to my family's condo on the Oregon Coast. It was a nice get away from reality, and of course a non-stop adventure. The weather was a nice break from the 100's at home, and it was nice to wear legging's and a jacket for a few days.

We walked around the city, and hung out in Powell's book store, visited stores in the Pearl District (no sales tax = awesome), stood in line for 45-minutes to get some doughnuts from VooDoo Doughnuts (sugar crack), visited the LDS Portland Temple grounds, and enjoyed a taste of the awesomeness that is Portland.

The coast was quiet and on the colder side. The fog never rolled out, but the sea air was welcoming to relaxation. We attempted to go swimming (fail), and my hopes of getting any color on my skin this summer quickly faded into the abyss. We went to the beach, ate tons of seafood, fought for parking, read some books, attended a few farmers markets (freshest flowers and fruit) and enjoyed the time off.

I love Portland. I could live there, dine there, play there, yoga there, tea-it-up there, be less colorful there... Maybe someday, for a few years at least, we could be transplants (although we probably would fit in better there than we do in Utah). I would have loved to stay longer, a week was too short.
